Stress is Slowly Killing You

If you’re under constant stress and the alarm button for cortisol stays on...

it can derail your body’s most important functions. It can also lead to a number of health problems, including: inflammation throughout your body, anxiety, depression, headaches, chronic fatigue, memory and concentration problems, problems with digestion, trouble sleeping, weight gain, muscle weakness, diabetes and many others. The hypothalamus and pituitary gland (both located in your brain) sense if your blood contains the right amount of cortisol and when this is constantly out of balance the above challenges increase over time causing dis-ease in the entire body.

Here are some key things to know about an imbalance of cortisol:

  • If you’ve lived in a stressful, toxic, dysfunctional or abusive home at any time for more than a short season, then your body is dealing with chronic cortisol imbalances. Otherwise known as fight, flight and freeze.

  • Waking up exhausted, struggling to fall asleep and waking up at 3-4 am are all signs of cortisol imbalance.

  • Our stress hormone, cortisol, should naturally be high in the morning as we awake and slowly decrease throughout the day. This allows our bodies to produce melatonin, so we can sleep at night.

In addition to sleep issues, cortisol imbalance can also cause:

  • High Blood  Pressure

  • Imbalance Blood Sugars (Resistance)

  • That Lovely Belly Fat (said with total sarcasmand more.

So, if you’re exhausted and getting 6-8 hours of sleep each night you now understand why. Your brain is still pushing out too much cortisol throughout the day (pituitary gland) and causing your nervous system to be overloaded and constantly on. It believes it needs to protect you even though you’re no longer in danger or living in a high stress environment. Your brain and body didn’t get the memo you’re now safe.

When we look at ourselves with grace for all we’ve endured and then begin to rebuild our minds with truth our brain and body will become set free to live in peace, hope, joy and love! Physical and emotional symptoms will start to disappear and guess what comes with that?

You guessed it - greater energy, better sleep, balanced hormones and so much more. Would you like to learn step by step biblical principals to do the inner healing work that we each must take in order to walk by faith and please God?

  • Emotion regulation problems including anger issues or mood swings

  • Symptoms of depression or sadness

  • Anxiety (living in a state of fight or flight) or phobias

Why Brainspotting

IT IS ONE OF THE FEW TECHNIQUES THAT EFFECTIVELY ADDRESSES THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESS AND EMOTIONAL TRAUMA.

Brainspotting is a psychotherapy based on the observation that the body activation experienced when describing a traumatic event has a resonating spot in the visual field.

BRAINSPOTTING is an incredibly deep (subcortical) brain-based relational treatment approach developed by David Grand, PhD (he only trains every few years... so learning directly from him is a pretty special opportunity.)

Most therapists rely on talk therapy or a technical modality. What’s missing is the brain-body connection.

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of challenging symptoms.

Trauma overwhelms the brain’s processing, leaving pieces of unprocessed experiences frozen in time. Brainspotting enables clients to quickly and effectively focus and process through the deep brain sources of many emotional, somatic and performance problems.

Where we look reveals critical information about what is going on in our brain. By carefully observing how and where clients look and focusing on their particular brain spots, I help the client to process all blocks/triggers safely, gently and deeply.

How It's Better

It’s allows the body to lead the way to release what its ready to let go

It bridges the gap between talk and technical modalities

There’s no fixed protocols (like EMDR), it’s totally client led

It’s open and relational

It’s responsive to the needs of the client

It includes brain-body tools

It’s adapted and integrated into all my other clinical approaches and therapeutic modalities.
